Everest Base Camp Trek 5th - 23rd October
I will be trekking to Base Camp with 15 other tourists who I will join up with in Kathmandu. We will be escorted by a team of guides, porters and yaks. On the trek we will stay in primitive Tea Houses and will spend between 4 and 8 hours walking each day.
The trip to Base Camp will involve a total of 8 flights including a return trip to Lukla in the Himalayas. Lukla airstrip was built by a Hillary team in 1965 to serve a nearby hospital. It’s at a height of approximately 9,000ft. The runway is only 450m long and has an elevation difference of 60m between ends.
From Lukla I will spend 9 days trekking to Base Camp & Kalar Patar
(the best vantage point for viewing Everest). This will allow me
time to acclimatise and hopefully avoid altitude sickness. The scenery
should be fantastic and I’m looking forward to the trip.
I’ve decided to fundraise for CHAS (Children’s Hospice Association Scotland) which is a charitable organisation providing hospice services for children in Scotland. If any member, guest or visitor would like to sponsor me I would be most grateful. Sponsorship forms are held behind the bar. All money raised will go to CHAS to help to support children with life limiting conditions and their families.

Andrew Wilson has been a member of the Ralston greenstaff for over 7 years and is a well known face about the course and club house,if you could help Andy in his sponsorship collect a form from behind the bar.
