How To Repair Pitchmarks

The quality of our putting surfaces is suffering as a few golfers are failing to repair pitchmarks. We would ask that golfers repair their ball mark & one other. A pitchmark properly repaired will heal within 24 hours whereas an un-repaired ball mark will take at least 15 days to mend.

Correct Way

  1. Discard the loose piece of turf removed by the ball.
  2. Insert the pitchmark repairer behind the ball mark.
  3. Lever the turf towards the centre of the pitchmark.
  4. Repeat this from all sides of the pitchmark.
  5. Gently tap repair down with putter.

Incorrect Way

  1. Do not insert the pitchmark repairer & twist it. This will break more turf loose.replace the loose piece of turf removed by the ball. It will die & delay the healing process.
  2. Do not attempt to prise the centre of the ball mark upwards.  You will expose the soil & break roots delaying the healing process.
  3. Do not insert the pitchmark repairer & twist it. This will break more turf loose.

Divots

Please replace all divots & press them down with your foot.  The only exception to this rule is on tees where greenstaff will sand & seed your divots.  Golfers should use the divot boxes provided on the par 3 holes to fill & smooth their own divots.  Please avoid taking divots during practice swings.

Bunkers

Bunkers should be raked by pushing the sand forward towards the face of the bunkers.  This will help to ensure an even depth of sand in the base of the bunkers.  Rakes should be left in the bunkers.

Litter

A minority of golfers continue to discard plastic bottles & other litter on the course.  As a courtesy to all, please hold on to litter until you come to the holes where litter bins are provided.
