In the first Newton Shield Match of the season Ralston won 6 1/2 to 1 1/2 against Old Ranfurly.
An excellant result when conditions were not favourable , a strong cold wind ,low sun and greens that were not at their best. The match was played in customary excellant sporting traditions which is not easy when you lose. Well done Old Ranfurly .
